Dark Horse Publishes Free Digital Public Service Comic on Earthquake Safety!

Dark Horse has published free digital public service comic called Without Warning. The 12-page, full-color comic is designed to give teens and younger readers information on earthquake preparedness within the context of ‘a story about a girl who lives on the Oregon Coast and is trying to reunite with her family after a major Cascadia Earthquake.’

Without Warning is the result of a collaboration between the Cascade Region Earthquake Workgroup and Dark Horse. Follow the jump for a link to the the comic.

Dark Horse Launches Prometheus Sequel!

On September 19th, Paul Tobin and Juan Ferreyra will begin the search for the Prometheus in Dark Horse’s Prometheus: Fire and Stone. The series, which ties directly into the Ridley Scott movie, will follow a new team of explorers that hopes to find out what happened to the Prometheus – and learn the secrets of humanity’s creation – or damnation.

Sundowners–They Only Come Out At Night!

There’s a fine line between heroism and insanity. That’s the running theme of Dark Horse’s new title, Sundowners.

The Sundowners is a group of of characters whose job it is to protect us from interdimensional threats. The thing is, though, are these threats real, or a product of their imaginations? Simply put, are they heroes or are they crazy?

Dark Horse Unveils Comic-Con 2014 Plans!

With less than a week to go, Dark Horse has released its schedule of events – panels (more than a dozen) and signings (more than 50!) – for Comic-Con 2014. Who says Comic-Con isn’t about comics anymore?

Sure there are the TV and movie-related panels (The Strain and A Dame To Kill for, for example), but there plenty for the comics fan – if you’re curious about the business, there are panels on How to Break Into the Business and Stay In (4pm, Thursday, Room 30CDE), or if you have a genre favorite, there’s Drawing on Your Nightmares: Modern Horror in Comics (1pm, Thursday, Room 23ABC). Hellboy fan? Spotlight on Mike Mignola (Friday, 12:30 pm, Room 23ABC). Emily Strange? How about The Emily the Strange Panel (10am, Sunday, Room 32AB). And that’s just a taste.

Comic-Con 2014: Dark Horse Unveils Five Game of Thrones Exclusives!

In their second wave of exclusive items for Comic-Con 2014, Dark Horse has announced five Game of Thrones items: The Bolton Map Marker (1200 produced), Lannister Shield Wall Plaque (2300) and all three of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons (1250 each) – Drogon, Rheagal (above) and Viserion.

Dark Horse Presents: The Return of Big Guy and Rusty, the Boy Robot!

One of the more delightfully odd partnerships in comics is Big Guy and Rusty, the Boy Robot. Created by Geof Darrow and Frank Miller, this futuristic romp once inspired a remarkable Saturday morning cartoon series back when that was where cartoons lived.

Along with Steve Parkhouse’s Resident Alien, Brendon McCathy’s Dream Gang, Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray and Andy Kuhn’s Wrestling With Demons Damon Gentry and Aaron Conley’s Sabertooth Swordsman, and David Mack’s Kabuki, Big Guy and Rusty, the Boy Robot will appear in the first issue of the revamped, 48-page Dark Horse Presents in August. Ellen Datlow Brings Nightmare Carnival To Dark Horse!

These stories and thirteen more are featured in Nightmare Carnival, a new anthology coming from Hugo and Bram Stoker Award-winning editor, Ellen Datlow.

Ellen Datlow is probably best known for her annual The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror anthologies, which never disappoint. Nightmare Carnival will be unleashed on September 24th. The press release follows the jump.

Comics Preview: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10

New season. New rules. The age-old battle of Slayer vs. vampire is the focus of Buffy’s life once again—it’s downright nostalgic! But with all the toying with magic she’s done lately, this girl should know it’s time for another game change . . . Shouldn’t she?  The series is Executive produced by Joss Whedon! The first issue is written by Christos Gage with art by Rebekah Isaacs, and colored by Dan Jackson.  The picture above shows the work of Cover Artist Steve Morris on the first issue as well as variant and ultra variant covers by Rebekah Isaacs. Dark Horse Sets Next Wave of Games of Thrones Figures for July!

Game of Thrones-related merchandise continues to be a hot item as Dark Horse announced today that the third round of GoT figures is planned for a July release. Nonarticulated, 7.5” figures to be released are: Cersei Baratheon, Arya Stark, Robb Stark, Jaime Lannister, and the White Walker.

Figures of Jon snow and Daenerys Targaryen are in stores now, with figures of Tyrion Lannister, Khal Drogo, and Ned Stark hitting stores in April. For more details, check out the press release after the jump.
