Ok, I know I suck, over the summer I had a chance to catch alternative rock band Big Something and the jazz instrumental fusion band Tauk at Washington, DC’s Hamilton Ballroom a few weeks ago. It was my first time at the venue and hopefully not the last. It is set next door to a hotel and features an upscale restaurant upstairs and has a large basement ballroom that serves food, drink and occasional music act. The acoustics in the place were pretty solid.

I’m new to Jingleballing. Went to my first show last X-Mas and it was a blast. I mean really, you get to see all the top touring acts in one place in a quick 3 hour span. I was skeptical at first and thought there would be a lot of dead spots, but Hot 99.5 and iHeartRadio did an amazing job of keeping things moving.
This year’s line up isn’t as good as last years, but hey it has Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer, Calvin Harris, Demi Lovato, OneRepublic, Iggy Azalea, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Lil Jon, Charli XCX, Jessie J, Kiesza, Rixton, Rita Ora and Shawn Mendes, with special guest host Nick Jonas. (Fairfax, VA, March 2, 2014) Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights Tour was so big and massive that I actually had to split the review in two. Demi has put together a day of girl power reaffirmation that is cleverly disguised as a regular Pop Concert. With the soundcheck party and four opening acts The Neon Lights Tour was literally an all day affair. By the time Demi herself strutted onto the stage a few minutes after 9pm the crowd was panting and shaking the building with screams. The Tweens around me were literally shaking and crying with anticipation. Part One of this Review.
(March 2, 2014, Fairfax, Va. Patriot Center) Anyone who follows me on the Tweet Machine or Facebook knows that I recently discovered an irrational love and obsession with Camp Rock and Hannah Montana, which is especially sad considering I’m an “old” black woman and both are five or six years old. I relived my Tweenhood last summer and went all in, purchased every Hannah Montana and Demi Lovato album. This week the obsession concludes the only way it could – attending Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights Tour stop at Virginia’s Patriot Center. Even though the DMV is made up of weather wimps, I was surprised that Lovato packed the 10,000 seat house on a cold, rain/sleeting Sunday afternoon. Click here for – Demi’s Review.
