Misfit City, the BOOM! Studios adventure series about Wilder and her friends – whose hometown is where they filmed that cult kids’ adventure movie in the ’80s – has been extended for a second story arc picking up from the discovery of a secret cave and someone thought dead turns out to still be alive.
The second arc of the critically acclaimed series – from screenwriter Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith (Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You), co-writer Kurt Lustgarten, and artist Naomi Franquiz – begins in Misfit City #5, in stores on September 20th. Pre-orders will be taken until August 28th.
Pre-orders are also being taken for Misfit City Vol. 1 – collecting the comic’s first story arc, which will be in stores in December.
BOOM! Studios is teaming up with Barnes & Noble to unite the communities of comics and roller derby with a fan event for SLAM! Vol. 1 by Pamela Ribon and Veronica Fish. At 10 fan events across the country, fans of both comics and derby are welcome to meet and greet their local leagues to learn more about the hard-hitting sport and engage with the community.
Pamela Ribon will be joined by the LA Derby Dolls and San Fernando Valley Roller Derby leagues on August 20th at 4 PM at the Barnes & Noble at The Grove to sign copies of SLAM! Vol. 1, as well as answer questions from fans in addition to the league meet-and-greet.
BOOM! Studios’ multiple award-nominated series, Giant Days will pay homage (sort of) to the films of Richard Curtis, the Bridget Jones movies and the fictionalized London-as-written-for-Americans in the Giant Days 2017 Special which is set to premiere in November.

Studios and WWE announce the WWE Survivor Series 2017 Special – an oversized, stand-alone issue that features several short stories tied to key matches from the storied history of WWE, including the Brock Lesnar and Goldberg showdown in 2016 that was 12 years in the making; the 2016 Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown Women’s Elimination match; and perhaps the most controversial (and infamous) match in WWE history—1997’s Montreal Screwjob.
