I can imagine the pitch for Baby Driver, ‘It’s a coming of age story about this young guy who’s the best getaway car driver ever – because he has tinnitus and listens to music to drown it out. When he falls in love with a diner waitress, he wants out.’
When you strip Baby Driver down to its most basic, that’s the essence of it. That’s what it comes down to – and it works beautifully.
Following the success of Divergent, Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, et al return for Insurgent, the adaptation of the second novel in Veronica Roth’s dystopian YA series. With the heavy lifting of all that exposition taken care of in the first film, Insurgent moves well, provides a few new twists and considerably more action and spectacular CG effects.
Thanks to ever growing technology, we are more connected to the world than ever before – but we seem to know less and less about the people we know. That’s the subject of Chad Kultgen’s novel, Men, Women & Children, which been adapted for film by Jason Reitman (Up In The Air, Juno). Men, Women & Children’s first trailer has just gone live and it’s both poignant and intriguing.
Check it out after the jump. Men, Women & Children has its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
