Sword Art Online The Movie – Ordinal Scale, an original anime film based on Reki Kawahara’s Japanese bestselling novel, will be coming to theaters in Spring 2017.

The film, which has an original story by Kawahara, takes place in 2022 when a revolutionary VR device is augmented by AR (Augmented Reality), which allows game players to experience an entirely new depth of involvement in a game called Ordinal Scale.
