Fear the Wolverine! I loved the original Red Dawn, the movie that turned Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey into stars. This 80s classic lived out everyone’s fantasy of fighting the man, in this case the Ruskies. I have no opinion on the idea of a remake, but I hope they keep the central theme of Tyranny Vs. Freedom and how far you would go to protect your freedom. The original easily could have turned into a cheese-fest but it didnt. But who would the invaders be in any remake? I guess the evil Hollywood Arabs. Anyway, two actors that I’ve never heard of Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki have joined the cast. Dan Bradley, a stunt coordinator and second-unit director on "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "Quantum of Solace," will direct the revamp based on the 1984 Cold War-era film co-written and directed by John Milius. Jeremy Passmore and Carl Ellsworth penned the updated screenplay.
Contrafilm’s Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are producing, and Vince Newman is executive producing. The film is scheduled to hit theaters Sept. 24, 2010. Peck, who is repped by UTA and the Collective, most recently appeared in "The Wackness," "Drillbit Taylor" and "What Goes Up." He again has provided the voice of Eddie in the animated sequel "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs," which Fox releases July 1. Palicki, repped by UTA and Anonymous Content, co-stars on "Friday Night Lights." She next appears in the Screen Gems thriller "Legion" in January.
Courtesy of the fine folks at Warner Brothers it’s time for another one of our famous no hoop jumping Washington, DC Advanced Screenings. This time we have tickets for the Advanced screening of My Sister’s Keeper. Based on the movie Trailer – which made me tear up a bit, I have high hopes for this film. Here are the details
Throughout their young lives, the sisters endure various medical procedures and hospital stays—just another part of their close-knit family’s otherwise normal life. Sara (Cameron Diaz), a loving wife and mother who left her career as an attorney to care for her daughter, is sometimes lost inside the single-minded caregiver she has become in her efforts to save Kate. Her strong, supportive husband, Brian (Jason Patric), is often rendered powerless and passive by his wife’s strength and determination. And their only son, Jesse (Evan Ellingson), drifts, at times all but forgotten as Kate and Anna take center stage.

Here’s the official poster for Spread, Ashton Kutcher’s latest flick. SPREAD is a fresh, funny, and racy look at the trials and tribulations of sleeping your way to a life of privilege in Los Angeles. Comic and karmic, the film is an “immorality tale” about a gorgeous guy who gives women what they want in order to live exactly as he likes. In SPREAD, Nikki (Ashton Kutcher) isn’t a gigolo. He’s a sexual grifter, a fun-loving, freeloading hipster who understands his greatest assets are his looks and sexual prowess, which he uses to charm his way into the hearts of the city’s richest women and enjoy their lifestyle. Nikki gets a free place to live, fantastic gifts, A-list access, and plenty of sex. The women get to feel young, beautiful… and utterly fulfilled in the bedroom. It’s a mutually beneficial set-up.
Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore is getting ready to explore the wonders that is capitalism. He called upon the press outlets of four major markets across the country to see the debut of an exclusive trailer of his new documentary and to participate in a theatre stunt. The four markets chosed were Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, & Our Nation’s Capital – Washington, D.C. I descended to the AMC Loews Georgetown theatre on Friday evening to see what the buzz was all about.
In a year when every summer film has been directed by some bland, visionless studio hack like McG, it was great watching a movie that clearly had a style and vision to it. At no point in “The Taking of Pelham 123,” you do not know that yes, this is a Tony Scott movie. All of his signature touches are here – the slow-quick motion edits, the fly in transitions, the map of the city with the text overlays it’s all here. Usually, I don’t like it when Directors insert themselves into the movie, but here it works.
For a movie written by a great screenwriter like Brian Helgeland, it’s filled with some draw droppingly bad moments. There were times when things got so stupid that I wanted to walk out, these moments kept taking me out of an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable movie. It’s why I’m having so much trouble with this review, does the good make you forget the bad? Ultimately, yes, but wow the bad moments are really, really bad. Most of them center around New York City’s Mayor (James Gandolfini) and this idiot Girl whose boyfriend has a laptop on the train that happens to have the web cam turned on so everyone in the city can see what’s going on. I got the feeling she cared more about being an Internet star than her boyfriend, there’s this dumb moment when she’s begging her boyfriend to tell her he loves her when one of the Terrorist is right near the computer.
The folks over at USA Today have scored this shot of Mickey Rourke in full on Whiplash gear on the set of Iron Man 2. Here’s a link to their article. Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) sports a power pack on his chest that looks similar to the one that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) uses. In the comic book the whips are electrically powered whips that have enough of a charge where it can damage Iron-Man’s armor. You know, I think there might be some interest in this Twilight: New Moon movie. The movie trailer for Summit Entertainment’s THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON received 10.6 million online views in its first week from the trailer’s domestic launch partners, MySpace and MTV. The trailer views on MySpace set a new record for the site with a total of 4.2 million online views within the first 24 hours and a total of 7.8 million within the first seven days. After being seen by 5.3 million viewers during its broadcast debut during the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, the trailer also received a total of 2.8 million online views on MTV.com within the first week.
The achievement is not only a record for MySpace, but also surpassed the views of the third and final trailer for the first film TWILIGHT, which received 3.2 million views in its first 48 hours online. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, and directed by Chris Weitz will be released November 20, 2009.
If you’re familiar with the phrase, “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas?”, then this movie is right for you. Imagine that you are on the eve of getting married and your best friends treat you to a weekend in Sin City. You & your friends decided to get a suite at one of Vegas’s famous casinos. Then, you do a toast to celebrate your last night as a bachelor. Then the next morning, everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. The hotel room is trashed beyond recognization. You’re sleeping on the floor. One of your friends is missing a tooth. A baby is in the closet. Finally, you found a bengal tiger in your bathroom.
Recently I had the distinct pleasure of going Up, Up, & Away in an old armchair that’s attached to several balloons. I bet you are wondering am I try to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. Not at all, but I had taken part in the Up, Up, and Away Tour at the NEWSEUM in Washington, DC. This tour is to help promote the latest Disney/Pixar movie, Up!, which is playing in theatres right now!
Here’s the brand new Twilight Trailer. It looks kind of lame to me, but maybe someone can answer a question: How is it possible the Werewolf guy can change into a wolf in daylight? Makes no sense, but then Stephanie Meyer has her Vampires walking around during the day and sparkle in the sunshine. Whatever.
This is one of the greatest fan trailers ever. I found it at the Ifanboy.com website, someone put a lot of thought and effort into this, Warner Brothers should hire whoever did this to be involved in their rumored Green Lantern movie. You would think Green Lantern would be one of the easiest characters to bring to the big screen. But whoever created this trailer, bravo!
