It’s odd, but I find myself anticipating J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 more than almost all of the big budget tentpole movies that are scheduled for release this summer [and I’m eagerly awaiting a good many of those!]. Maybe it’s because the film seems to encapsulate the feeling of such disparate films as ET, Stand By Me and Close encounters of the Kind – with a dash of Jaws.
Somehow, the trailers for Super 8 – including the new one [see it following the jump] – suggest a film that creates characters that feel real and that will make the stakes real for an audience. Super 8 opens on June 10, 2011.
