Netflix is Dead to Me, How they Screwed Over Customers

Why is it people can’t leave well enough alone??? Netflix was one of the best services (for any industry around) but they decided to work in collusion with Warner Home Video to fuck over their customers. Last week while I was at CES the crappiest deal in history became official. Netflix will now delay all Warner Home Video new releases by 28 days. So no more getting your Harry Potters, Terminators, or whatever else WHV puts out the first week of release. I’m on every studio list to receive Blu-rays on release day so that I can review them, the only studio who has been very difficult to deal with was Warner, so I would use Netflix to review their product.  I will no longer even attempt to cover any Warner Home Video release.

Warner Home Video, who will now be known as the new Evil Empire, is doing this because people just aren’t buying enough movies and they are wrongly blaming it on the rental market. It can’t be because people don’t have jobs and most of your movies aren’t worth buying? That can’t be the reason. The cost of new release Blu-rays have finally started to come down to a reasonable rate, how much do you want to bet now that they don’t have to “compete” with rental, prices will start to creep back up. Rumor has it now that Netflix caved to the Evil Empire other studios will be making similar demands.

This deal completely screws over Netflix customers and really defeats the entire point of even using the service. Netflix struck the deal because they’ll get a discount on DVD and Blu-ray prices, nevermind the damn company already charges an additional fee for customers who want Blu-ray discs! So not only am I paying an extra to get Blu-rays, now I’m not even going to be able to even hope to get a new release in a “timely” manner?  Fuck that! If I didn’t like the Instant Streaming so much I’d completely boycott Netflix, as it is I changed my account from their highest 8 Discs out to just 1. I’d like to see everyone do this to send Netflix a strong message. Netflix is now dead to me. In the meantime I’m going to finally give Blockbuster online another look.

  1. Tsk, tsk. Language, Michelle.

Other than that, I agree that Netflix has screwed its customers.

It would serve them right if their customers went to the 1 movie option, or even boycotted them entirely.

    Cheesy bastards!
