Ever wanted to write your own movie and didn’t know how to go about getting started? There is a great company called ScriptShark that I had the pleasure of coming across back at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con that offers screen writing seminars in both Los Angeles and New York City for those who are a bit daunted by their lack of movie industry savvy. These interesting and informative seminars allow the aspiring screenwriter to delve deeper into the business demands of a screenwriter’s career, and pursue the practical skills and understanding every aspiring screenwriter needs to know in order to position and promote themselves and their screenplay effectively.

ScriptShark offers information and knowledge about such essential things as:

* Career planning & goal setting
* The best ways to secure representation
* Understanding your screenplay from a producer’s POV
* How to take charge of your career
* Defining genre & market breakdown
* Creating a catchy, clear, and focused logline
* Turning your basic idea into a gripping pitch

If you are seriously interested in getting your screen writing career off the ground, then check out ScriptShark.

Meanwhile let’s take a look at some upcoming projects from some people already established in the entertainment industry.

One of my favorite actress’, Sandra Bullock, has recently signed a deal to star in Mandeville Films’  upcoming action thriller, Most Wanted. Bullock will star opposite Ryan Reynolds whom she worked with in the romantic comedy, The Proposal. Most Wanted is written by Pete Chiarelli and is currently in the pre-production stage.

Paul Rudd, best known for his role in the 2007 comedy, Knocked Up, isn’t straying from what he does best. He is currently set to star in the comedy My Idiot Brother, playing an idealist who wreaks havoc on his siblings when he crashes at their homes. Jesse Peretz direct will be helming the director’s chair for Big Beach Productions and A Likely Story.

Swedish born action film star, Katia Winter is taking on a lead role in “The Killing Game,” director Jonah Loop’s actioner about the world of modern gladiator fighting. The Killing Game is currently in the early stages of pre-production with no other casting information available.

Warner Bros. Pictures, Dark Horse Entertainment has a new scifi type movie in the works titled 3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man.  Written by Dustin Lance Black and based on the graphic novel by Matt Kindt, the movie is Modern fable about a man with a medical condition that causes him to grow three stories tall.

The Fox Searchlight’s The Descendants wrapped production on 6.1.10  The Descendants, directed by Alexander Payne, is a dramedy starring George Clooney as a land-rich descendant of Hawaiian royalty who travels with his two rebellious daughters to track down his wife’s lover.

While this is mainly a rundown of current movies in production, being an avid viewer of almost any kind of television series that has a horror movie type bent to it, I had to add in this little gem that I am really excited about.

Beginning on 6.2.10 AMC went into production with a new television drama series The Walking Dead, which stars Andrew Lincoln as a police officer who leads a group of survivors in search of a safehouse following a zombie apocalypse.

Zombie apocalypse—oh yea I am going to be so there to watch this!
