AMC’S “THE MAKING OF THE MOB: CHICAGO” TO PREMIERE MONDAY, JULY 11 AT 10 p.m. ET/PT

DOCU-DRAMA WILL CHRONICLE AL CAPONE AND THE EMERGENCE OF THE CHICAGO MAFIA OUTFIT

NEW YORK, NY – MAY 20, 2016 – AMC announced today that the network will premiere the historical mafia docu-drama “Making of The Mob: Chicago” on Monday, July 11 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.  The eight-episode docu-drama chronicles the rise and fall of iconic gangster Al Capone, as well as the story of his successors, collectively known as The Chicago Outfit. The series is produced by Emmy® Award-winning production company, Stephen David Entertainment (“The World Wars,” “The Men Who Built America.”)

Spanning the better part of a century, “The Making of The Mob: Chicago” begins with Capone’s early days in New York and continues through his move to Chicago – to work with his childhood mentor in the underworld. When Prohibition hits, battles break out as the city’s gangs rush to set up bootlegging operations and Capone decides to go up against his rivals. As he consolidates power, he achieves legendary status for his ruthless tactics and over-the-top lifestyle that attracts the wrath of President Herbert Hoover. Utilizing an immersive blend of dramatic scenes, archival footage and VFX, the series also features interviews with historians, authors, actors, law enforcement personnel and family members, including: actors Vincent Pastore and Michael Madsen; New York Times best-selling author and Al Capone expert, Jonathan Eig, and former Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman.

“The history and spectacular personalities inside the American mafia provides a fascinating real life look at organized crime, and allows us to expand the story-telling beyond New York City,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. “Al Capone is one of the most notorious crime figures and “The Making of  The Mob: Chicago” showcases the canny criminal minds and brutish no-nonsense killers that will stop at nothing for power.”

“The Making of The Mob: Chicago” follows the success of AMC’s first installment of the series, “The Making of The Mob: New York,” which delivered an average of 1.5 million viewers and

626,000 adults 25-54 through six episodes in live+3 ratings.
