On this episode of the GeekScholars Movie News podcast, the crew shakes things up by trying out 2.5 new segments! First, the GeekScholars play a new game called “What are the Odds?!”, where they guess the probability of several film-related rumors coming true including whether or not Sharon Carter is the female lead of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Meryl Streep appearing in Into the Woods, and the likelihood of board games Monopoly and Hungry, Hungry Hippos making to the big screen.
From there, the GeekScholars unveil their next newest segment which they call “Unsung Heroes”. Ever watch a movie and think, “oh, where have I seen that person before?”, well, the GeekScholars are here to honor those actors or actresses who they believe have had exceptional careers, but they have yet to really become a household name. On this week’s show, the crew highlights: Linda Hunt, Tom Wilkinson, Kathy Najimy, and Stephen Tobolowksi
From there, the GeekScholars get into their Preview Reviews for the week, however since there were a whopping seven trailers to review, the crew spices things up by presenting “Preview Reviews: Ultra Lightening Round Edition”, doing double-time to get through all of them, including: A Good Die to Die Hard, The Lone Ranger, Broken City, Parker, The Croods, The Guilt Trip, and The Movie 43.
Plus, an added bonus as honorary GeekScholar Kylie weighs in with her unique take on Looper!
