Primeval started out with great potential to be Saturday evening’s must-watch sci-fi (at least when Doctor Who is on hiatus). The first series was a rollicking success and ended with Professor Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall, above with the rest of the main cast) returning to the present somewhere in the south of England through an […]

The Tellybox: Spinning off from Mars – Ashes to Ashes
Life on Mars, the story of the time-travelling comatose Detective Inspector Sam Tyler, was arguably one of the biggest TV hits of the past couple of years. So the temptation to do a spin-off was pretty much too hard to resist. But how to continue the adventures of Gene Hunt, the 1973 Manchester “hit […]
Knight Rider
After months of hype the new Knight Rider finally premiered on NBC this weekend. I was expecting a disaster but was pleasantly surprised by a bad, but watchable two hr car commercial. There’s potential here for a good campy show if the cast can get a chance to gel. The acting in this is pretty […]
NBC Picks up Chuck, Bionic Woman on the Bubble
Now that the writer’s strike is over we are starting to get some answers about the future of freshmen shows. ABC is keeping just about everything and based on this announcement NBC is still unsure what it’s going to do. For me the big disappointment of the season was Chuck – it’s just too much […]

Showtime’s Dexter – one of the five or ten best series on television comes to CBS [Sundays, 10/9C] in a somewhat different, but equally effective form. The series, which features a serial killer who only targets other serial killers – and lives by a code instilled in him by his late adoptive father – […]

Tons of nuts later, Jericho reaches the rarefied status of brand spanking new eps [CBS, Tuesdays, 10/9C]. We get closure on the Jericho-New Bern war; a new central government makes itself known, and much more.

Lipstick Jungle: Prime Soap for Primetime!
Lipstick Jungle [NBC, Thursdays, 10/9C] is Darren Star’s [Sex and the City] latest primetime soap. It’s about three women who have risen to the tops of their chosen professions while remaining good friends/confidantes/advisors. It is the second of two similarly themed series to premiere in the new year – it’s also the one that’s […]
Sanctuary picked up by SciFi Channel
The SciFi Channel has announced that it has picked up Sanctuary, launched last year as an HD web-only series of eight 15 minute “webisodes”. SciFi has commissioned 13 episodes of the series after the work of series star Amanda Tapping, Damian Kindler (writer-producer) and Martin Wood (producer-director) impressed the SciFi Channel’s executives.
Paula Abdul Super Bowl Lip-synch
Back in the day, I loved Paula Abdul. Too bad she turned out to be a one-hit wonder, granted that hit album spawned several top ten tracks. She was a hit back in the days when MTV could turn a star into a super star. Her performance during Sunday’s Super Bowl was really sad. […]
