VIZ Media Acquires North and Latin American Rights to Anime Series Mr. Osomatsu!

During the Otakon 2017 weekend, VIZ Media acquired the North and Latin American rights to comedy anime series Mr. Osomatsu – about the misadventures of six unique brothers.

VIZ obtained digital streaming, EST, home video and merchandise rights for the series which is going into its second season this fall in Japan. A launch date is yet to be set.

Memorable Trailer: Rememory!

Gordon Dunn is found dead shortly after he unveils his latest invention – a machine that can extract, record and play back a person’s memories.

No long after that, a mysterious man appears, steals the machine and sets out to find out who killed Dunn.

Rememory stars Peter Dinklage and the mysterious man, Julia Ormond as Carolyn Dunn and Martin Donovan as Dunn. It premieres free, for a limited time, on GooglePlay on August 24th, and in theaters on September 8th.

UCP’s Pitch Fest Yields Development of Two New Series!

Universal Cable Productions’ second annual Pitch Fest has yielded two potential series from writers Erin Wood and David Merritt II.

Futures is centered around five brilliant millennials, who discover they are each owned by private shareholders who are banking on their future.

The Haints  is a gritty sci-fi thriller set in the early 90’s where six African-American teens are implicated after a white female classmate goes missing.

Wood and Merritt’s pitches were selected from a field of over 1400 ‘diversity targeted submissions.’

Shonda Rimes Moves Shondaland To Netflix!

Shonda Rimes, creator of ABC hits Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, is packing up her Shondaland production company and moving to Netflix.

Current Shondaland/ABC shows will remain on the network – as will a couple of shows being developed by the network.

Teen Choice 2017: Teens Exhibit Wide Range of Favorites!

North America’s adolescents have made their voice heard – Teen Choice 2017 surfboards were handed out to a host of movies, TV shows, actors, actresses, digital stars, singers and musicians during the two-hour special on FOX.

Some of the winners came as a surprise: Riverdale (Choice TV Drama, Choice Breakthrough Series), Dwayne Johnson (Choice Fantasy Movie Actor); while some did not: Wonder Woman (Choice Action Movie), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Choice Sci-Fi Movie).

More than 63,000,000 votes were cast via Twitter and FOX.com.

Vanessa Hugdens To Receive Inaugural Teen Choice #SeeHer Award!

Vanessa Hudgens has been selected to be the first recipient of Teen Choice’s #SeeHer Award for ‘pushing boundaries on changing stereotypes and embodying the fight for realistic female portrayals in media.’

The award is given in partnership between FOX and the Association of National Advertisers (ANA).

Teen Choice 2017 airs live on Sunday, Aug. 13(8:00/7C/PT tape-delayed) from University of Southern California’s Galen Center on FOX.

Bruno Mars will be honored for his innovation and contributions to contemporary music with the Teen Choice 2017 Visionary Award at Teen Choice 2017, broadcast live Sunday, August 13th on FOX (8/7C).

Fifth Harmony, Anthony Anderson and Logan Paul have been confirmed as special presenters and will ‘multiple acts in the show and will be announcing some of the most anticipated performances and honorees of the night.”
