I thought it was a lot of fun and the tone was just about right. Yeah, I could nitpick it to death but it's not that type of movie.

I'm not saying the Picture was "terrible," it was sharp and clear, just not "Blu-ray" quality or maybe the best way to say it, there was no "WOW" factor to it. That's primarily due to the pedestrian Cinematography used in the film.

Paramount didn't seem to have any qualms about sending out screeners to the press here, in Canada. I think you should give your PR rep a call. I'm sure it's just an oversight.

From the comments in your review, I can only guess that Netflix sent you a DVD instead of a Blu-ray. Say what you will about the film but the quality of the high-def transfer and encode is without fault. Perhaps you need to calibrate your screen.

My review of the GI JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA Blu-ray : <a href="http://www.theblurayblog.com/2009/11/gi-joe-the-rise-of-cobra-blu-ray-disc-review/" target="_blank">http://www.theblurayblog.com/2009/11/gi-joe-the-r...</a>

I'm not saying it's "terrible" in the truly "terrible" since like say, the Die Hard or ID4 Blu-ray releases, I'm saying it didn't look like Blu-ray quality. It's a sharp, clear, picture but the colors from the cinematography is pedestrian, plain, dark, making the overall effect not much better than an Upscaled DVD.

You liked the movie? Seriously? Either you are a 6 year old writing this review or something's wrong. I am looking for ways to recover 1 hour 58 minutes of my life lost watching this sad thing.

Picture quality is terrible? It's rated quite highly, capturing tons of facial detail and sharpness. The encode itself is flawless, and the bitrate is massive. Just look around at some of the aggregate sites (such as Cinemasquid) which show the various sites scoring it quite high, which is what it should be. Sounds like the writer was irritated (and rightfully so) about Paramount's review material policy -or lack thereof- and the stupidity of putting extras on the digital copy (also rightfully so), docking the video quality score in the process.
