BBC America makes its first appearance at SXSW with its @BBCAMERICA Roadhouse (Brush Sq Park, E 4th & Trinity). Attractions include a live performance by Frank Turner and Skinny Lister, and a special 50th Anniversary tribute to Doctor Who by Video DJ Eclectic Method.

Announced today, BBC AMERICA will make its inaugural appearance at @SXSW with the @BBCAMERICA Roadhouse (Brush Sq Park, E 4th & Trinity) on March 8 and 9. The channel’s line-up of events include a night of British music featuring Frank Turner (@fthc) and Skinny Lister (@SkinnyLister) and hosted by television presenter Georgie Okell (@GeorgieOkell), a Friday night set by DJ Mel (@DJMel), Six Nations Rugby viewing party and an Eclectic Method (@EclecticMethod) tribute to 50 years of the iconic television series Doctor Who.  Watch a preview of Eclectic Method’s Doctor Who set, which has posted today on BBC AMERICA’s YouTube Channel.

Happy Hour with Lord Humphrey

With a British spin on a party favorite, Lord Humphrey, the bucking mechanical English bulldog takes visitors for a ride throughout the night.

Television presenter Georgie Okell hosts a night of British music with folk band Skinny Lister and headliner folk punk singer songwriter Frank Turner, who performed at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.  Frank Turner’s new album “Tape Deck Heart” hits April 22. Skinny Lister’s new album “Forge & Flagon’” is available now.

DJ Mel

8:30-9:45pm

Texas native DJ Mel, known for packing in crowds at his long-running parties, brings the party to @BBCAMERICA’s Roadhouse. A recent gig for the Austin-based DJ was spinning President Obama’s Inaugural Ball in January.
