Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead DVD Contest
April 7th, 2008 · Posted by: Michelle Alexandria in Contests, DVDOne of my favorite movies from last year, “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” is coming to DVD on April 15. We have 10, count em TEN copies of this DVD to give away. It’s your chance to catch one of the forgotten gyms from last year. Ethan Hawke gives an amazing performance in this. From five-time Academy Award-winning director Sidney Lumet - Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei, and Albert Finney star in ‘Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.’ Own it on DVD April 15th from Image Entertainment. Oscar-Winner Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Andy, an overextended broker who lures his younger brother, Hand (Ethan Hawke), into a larcenous scheme: the pair will rob a suburban mom-and-pop jewelry store that appears to be the quintessential easy target. The problem is, the store owners are Andy and Hank’s actual Mom and Pop, and when the seemingly perfect crime goes horribly wrong, the damage sends them hurtling toward a shattering climax. This contest will run Monday, April 7 - Monday, April 21. If you want the DVD, tell us what yor favorite movie is from one of the folks involved in this.

Sidney Lumet - Dog Day Afternoon. I had a chance to see it at Mann’s Chinese Theater in LA at a retrospective in 1999 - the theater was packed. Absolutely classic! Hoping to win this one, since the last contest I came up short.

I love Ethan Hawke in A Midnight Clear. It’s a great World War 2 movie that Ethan does a fantastic job in. I hope to see him in another World War 2 movie in the future.

Albert Finney was awesome in Miller’s Crossing. And I like Ethan Hawke in Reality Bites.

My pick is Marisa Tomei in the movie What Women Want with Mel Gibson. First because at that time I really liked Mel Gibson, and second because that movie always reminds me of what could’ve been… I had a close friend at that time (who I was hoping would become more than a friend) but it ended up going nowhere because the guy just didn’t have a clue! When the movie came out it made me scream and wish my friend could get powers like that, just for a little bit, so that he could get a clue! :)

I love Phillip Seymour Hoffman. I was good in the Talented Mr. Ripley and Capote, but he was fabulous in the movie (I forget the name) which he starred with Tom Cruise.

I’m another one who loves Philip Seymour Hoffman, and I’m trying to Netflix my way through his entire oeuvre, but I haven’t made it yet. So, I’m going to say Capote was my favorite.
