Hunger Games Cookbook

Yeah, I don’t get it either. I don’t know anything about The Hunger Games, but by the title it seems like a story about someone/something being Hungry.  But hey, we have a cookbook! From these extravagant meals of the Capital, to the poor, but deliciously creative District 12, The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook collects recipes from the popular trilogy, including Katniss’s favorite lamb stew, French bread from the Mellark family bakery, and the decadent Capitol-Grade Dark Chocolate Cake. While the residents of The Hunger Games trilogy’s Capitol gorge themselves on delicacies and desserts to their heart’s desire, the humble districts fight for sustenance: Katniss and Gale hunt live game, Peeta’s family survives on the bread they make, and the inhabitants of the Seam work twelve-hour days for a few handfuls of grain.  The Victory Feast of The Hunger Games is the true reward for the ultimate fight for survival – filled with course upon course of delicious delicacies, rich stews, savory meats, and mouthwatering desserts! If you’re starving for more from Katniss, Peeta, and Gale, this cookbook is sure to whet your appetite!

Courtesy of our new friends at the Geek Scholars Podcast and Adams Media, we have one, count em ONE hardcover copy of this cookbook to give away!  To win, subscribe to our Twitter feed at  twitter.com/eclipsemagazine. For extra credit give us a retweet and like us on Facebook (yes I know our Facebook page is janky, but soon it won’t be). Send your full name and address to contests@eclipsemagazine.com with the subject heading Hunger Games Contest. On Monday, March 26, 2012 we will select one winner at random. Again, your email must contain your full contact information.  Be sure to check out EM’s new podcast partners where EM’s Michelle Alexandria will be a guest. Del Monte Contest

In one of the weirder press releases that I’ve received in awhile, the folks at Del Monte Fresh Produce are holding a contest to give away 500 pairs of sneakers. Of course, me being the fine physical specimen that I am, immediately asked for a free pair of sneakers. Because, you know, I work out almost every day. Really, I do – at least recently. But, alas, they said no. My consolation prize, some free fruit for posting this. Hey, I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a sell out and I love me some fruit. Besides the free fruit, I always applaud interesting marketing concepts – in my other life I used to be a marketing weasel before the IT World stole me away. I mean, really, Fruit and Sneakers sort of go together and I’m not saying that to be “ironic” or “funny.” Ok, I am. It’s 500 pairs of sneakers, you have a shot here. This is all part of  Del Monte Fresh Produce to get people to eat healthier. Each week, during the entire month of March 2012, 125 randomly selected eligible US and Canadian consumers that enter the contest, will each be awarded a $75.00 gift card to Foot Locker to purchase a pair of sneakers.  For $75 you won’t be getting those Air Jordans that people are literally stomping on each other to get, but you can get a nice pair of New Balances, or how about some Adidas? I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair of Nike shoes in my life. For more information, please visit: www.facebook.com/delmontefreshproduce

Just Seen It Review Show

Hey Everyone, can we rap a minute?  A few weeks ago we announced a brand new podcasting partnership with the Guys and Girls over at Geek Scholars.  This week we have a brand new partnership with some hipster USC Kids over at Just Seen It video review show. Don’t get me started on how jealous I am that these folks attend my dream school of USC!  What is Just Seen ItJust Seen It is a tribute to Siskel and Ebert. A group of University of Southern California Industry Students majoring in FILM and TV grew up watching Siskel and Ebert and loved their honest and smart reviews. When the two left the air, the students decided to take up their banner and honor their tradition by producing reviews that are both informative and entertaining.

Just Seen It reviews the newest in theater, TV and Cable, with new shows posted every Thursday night.   The shows will be available here on Eclipse, unlike the Podcast, I don’t think I’m smart enough to be making guest appearances there. I don’t think I would be able to get away with saying “this movie sucks because I say so…” Not to mention I’m not in Cali. :(  Check out their recent episode here, and welcome them to the rapidly growing EM Family!  This is all part of my master evil plan of expanding Eclipse without doing any extra work!  Check out their YouTube channel.
