ABC ORDERS COMEDIC GAME SHOW “BIG FAN” FROM JIMMY KIMMEL

Andy Richter to Host

ABC has given a series order to “Big Fan.” The half-hour weekly comedic game show will be hosted by Andy Richter. Late-night television host, writer, and producer Jimmy Kimmel teams with Banijay Studios North America to produce. “Big Fan” is based on the hilarious “Who Knows…?” the celebrity vs. super-fan game segment that originally aired on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The segment became a viral video success when pop star Katy Perry went up against one of her biggest fans in this hilarious challenge. Each episode of the half-hour, studio-based game show will feature one celebrity and three of his or her biggest super fans. The super fans will go head-to-head to see who knows more about the episode’s featured celebrity. The succeeding super fan will move on to the final round in an ultimate showdown, celebrity vs. super fan, to see who knows most about the celebrity. If the super fan wins, their prize is a priceless experience with the celebrity they admire most.

“This show is a lot of fun,” said Jimmy Kimmel. He added, “Andy Richter is a great host, and I can’t think of a better way to terrify celebrities.”

“Night after night, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ delivers a slew of great comic bits. There were many to choose from, but “Who Knows…?” featuring Katy Perry stood out as one that could be expanded into a really unique comedic game show concept that gives fans at home a chance to be part of the experience,” stated David Goldberg, Banijay Group President and Banijay Studios North America CEO. “Thankfully, Jimmy and ABC agree.  Collaborating with Jimmy and Andy, two of the funniest people on television, on our first game-show format under the new Banijay Studios North America banner, is very exciting.”

Jimmy Kimmel; David Goldberg, Banijay Group President and Banijay Studios North America CEO; and Caroline Baumgard, chief creative officer, Banijay Studios North America, will serve as executive producers.

Kimmel is host and executive producer of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the award-winning and long-running late-night ABC talk show. Richter is an actor, writer, comedian and late-night talk show announcer for “Conan.” Goldberg and Baumgard created, produced and shepherded some of the most successful unscripted formats in the world, including two-time Emmy®-Award winning series “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Deal or No Deal,” award-winning fan favorite “Wipeout” and the Emmy Award winning syndicated daytime show “Steve Harvey.”
